Summer 2 Week 1 Videos and Resources

Timetable: Below is a suggested timetable to follow for this week; we understand that it may not always be possible to complete all activities in the times given, so please adapt if needed.

Spellings List: (Test will be on Friday)
Spelling test- The spellings list is a review of past words that the students should all be familiar with. When studying, ensure students are creating sentences for each word. If a word is not known then have them look it up to understand the meaning. The spellings test will be done on Thursday using Google Forms. If the word is not spelt completely correct, Google Forms will mark it as wrong. Do not use capital letters or add extra spaces and ensure the word is spelt in its entirety in the space provided.


Reading: Continue to read the Wind in the Willows- Chapters 8,9, 10 to the end of the
book.

Writing: This is the final week of Wind in the Willows and your last writing tasks based on it. Your first task is to create a wanted poster for Mr. Toad. You can be as creative as you like.
Think about what things you need to include in your poster. 

Finally, a book review! Did you love it or did you hate it? Now is the opportunity to voice your opinion. What was your favourite part and who was your favourite character? Were there any parts you didn’t like?

SPaG: This week we will be looking at direct/indirect speech and using the correct punctuation. Have a look at Mrs Farrell’s video to refresh your memory and have a go at the tasks. There are two different tasks, so have a look at both and choose one. If you're feeling
extra confident, do both!


Maths: From this week, going forward, we will not be following the White Rose Home learning videos because we have already covered those topics in school. Miss. Nielsen has created videos on Monday and Wednesday, explaining the maths topics for the week. White Rose activity sheets will still be used and students can still do the maths challenges on Fridays.

PE: The Body Coach of Youtube does live videos every weekday at 9am called ‘PE with Joe’ for students to follow. On the school website, on the PE curriculum page, there are PE challenges for the students to try.


Humanities: History - The lives of the rich and poor in Victorian times.
Listen to the recording about the lives of the rich and poor during the Victorian times and try the activity at the end.

Education City: This week’s activities include worksheets that can either be printed out or the answers simply written out on a paper. Students should make sure they have done both classwork and homework.

PSHE: Money matters powerpoint. Think about why we need money and explore different types of jobs. What other ways do people make money? How will you make money in the future? Where will your money come from and where will it go? What will you spend it on?

Writing: Looking at poetry this week, think about the life of the river. How would it be? Using
your senses to describe how it would look, smell, sound and feel? Have a go at creating
your own poem. This lesson is spread out over two days so take your time and plan
your ideas clearly.


SPaG: Looking at verbs/verb families as well as past, present and future tense. Have a look at
the video and try to create some of your own sentences using different tenses.

Art: Research a famous painting where the artist has beautifully captured a river in their work. Work by artists such as Monet, John Constable,Turner or an artist of your choice. Think about what you like, or dislike about the painting. Choose a river painting as your inspiration to try your own drawing/painting of a river.
